A small home, deliberately
Stronvar is an independent residential care home for seventeen people. Because we are small, everyone knows each resident personally, and we have the time to shape care around the individual rather than expecting people to fit a routine. Rated Good by the Care Quality Commission across all five areas.
A home for good, with personal care, all meals, laundry, activities, company and staff on site 24 hours a day. We support people living with dementia where their needs remain appropriate for a residential setting.
A short stay, whether you need a break, cover after a hospital discharge, or a trial before making a permanent decision. Respite residents get exactly what permanent residents get. A good number of our permanent residents started this way.
A day with us including lunch, activities and company, then home again in the evening. Often the gentlest first step, either for someone living alone or for a carer who needs a regular break.
We do not provide nursing care. Stronvar is a residential home. If a resident's needs change over time, we raise it with the family early and help you find the right next step rather than waiting for a crisis.
Seventeen single bedrooms, each with its own character and outlook. Every room is fully furnished, and residents are warmly encouraged to bring their own furniture, photographs and treasured possessions.
Popular with residents who have reduced mobility or who prefer easy access to the communal areas. Several look over the gardens, and a number open straight onto the courtyard through their own patio doors.
Bright and comfortable, with pleasant views over the gardens and the surrounding area. Suited to residents who can safely use the evacuation arrangements in place, with staff support where needed.
We publish our fees because families are usually comparing several homes at once, and it is not fair to make you ring round to find out the basics.
| Type of care | Fee |
|---|---|
| Permanent residential care | From £1,450 |
| Respite care | £237.50 |
| Day care | £125 |
Funding. Social Services funded placements and third party top ups may be considered, following a discussion with the Home Manager. If you are not sure what your relative is entitled to, ring us anyway. We deal with this every week and will point you at the right person at the council.
Breakfast is unhurried, and nobody is woken to a schedule. Meals are cooked in our own kitchen and served at laid tables in the dining room, with dietary needs catered for properly rather than worked around. Afternoons follow the people who live here: music, baking, the garden, the newspaper, or simply company. The garden and courtyard are open, so residents step outside when they feel like it rather than when it is scheduled. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable hour.
Dad has Alzheimer's, so continuity of care is very important for him. There has been no staff turnover in the six months he has been here. I have peace of mind knowing he is safe and well cared for. Hilary D, daughter of a resident
It is very homely and the team are always very warm and caring to all the residents. The home is extremely clean and well presented. I would recommend Stronvar to anyone considering a home for someone. Jen R, daughter of a resident
All the staff at Stronvar love Mum as though she were one of their own. Her dietary requirements were fully catered for and she thrived while living there. Tina T, daughter of a resident
Twenty minutes here will tell you more than any brochure. Ring and we will find a time that suits you, including evenings and weekends.
